The Someday Ticket

Volkswagen ID. Buzz

A 1975 couple can't afford to fill the tank, so he writes her a promise on the back of the gas receipt. Fifty years later, she takes it down from the visor of a new ID. Buzz.

Both leads were cast as still references before a frame of video was generated, then aged fifty years using image-reference editing rather than fresh prompts — identity lives in the reference, and the prompt only describes the passage of time. Every shot quotes the same locked description word for word.

The 1975 half was generated clean and graded in a single pass in DaVinci Resolve — warm curve, lifted blacks, halation, film grain — so the look could be keyframed to burn off mid-film across the match cut that joins the two eras. Grading in post rather than in generation is what keeps five separate shots reading as one roll of film.
